Blending the Practical, the Psychological and the Spiritual as a Foundation for Therapy.
Western therapy traditionally focuses on helping clients eliminate negative thoughts and feelings through painstaking self-analysis. Little known in the West, however, are two Buddhist based therapies -- Morita and Naikan -- that teach the alleviation of suffering through acceptance and gratitude.
Buddhist psychologist Wylie Goodman will discuss these therapies and show how they are uniquely qualified to help promote growth and change from an Eastern perspective.
“Life is a Matter of Attention. Your experience of life is not based on your life but on what you pay attention to.”
Wylie Goodman, Psy .D. is a licensed clinical psychologist in New York City. She has been in practice for over 10 years. Dr. Goodman has been interviewed about her work with Naikan for Health magazine and was formerly the Health and Medical Editor for HalfthePlanet.com, a Website for people with disabilities.
